This collection consists of one scrapbook of newspaper clippings dated June 27, 1916-October 12, 1916. The articles were written by T.E. Hedlund, "war correspondent" for the Boston Globe, covering the 5th and 2nd regiments of the Massachusetts National Guard. The train ride with the troops from Massachusetts to El Paso, Texas is covered in the first few articles. The bulk of the clippings cover the daily camp stories of the 2nd regiment stationed in Columbus, New Mexico. The 2nd regiment was part of a back-up unit stationed on the Mexican border assisting General Pershing's punitive expeditionary forces in Mexico following Pancho Villa's raid on Columbus.
